We hope you’ll enjoy our take on Latin American cuisine, always fresh often spicy. We always use ingredients, locally harvested when possible and prepare each meal individually.

I have been to Peppers now several times, and never been dissapointed. The food is great, the staff is friendly and accomodating and it’s close – for a local, all good things!

Simply outstanding, from the chips to the food to the staff. Amazing looking vegetarian entrees. I had a chili verde tostada, and DE-LISH!

I went here with the husband and friends and we all loved everything. We shared a cheese grilled pepper appetizer and it was so good I could’ve eaten a million of them. A friend and I shared the Mission Burrito platter and it was huge and delicious. My husband had the Southwest Sausage and it was sweet and spicy and marvelous. We all left very satisfied and happy and I wish I lived closer to try everything!

Oh my… The Cheese Enchiladas in red sauce are fabulous as in FABU! I am so in love with these Cheese Enchiladas, I cannot wait to go back for more. Smoky, a bit of heat and tang in the red sauce-perfection.

My wife and I come here on a near weekly basis for dinner. Make sure to call ahead as the wait for a table can be a while. The food is fresh, the portions are generous, and the prices are fair. Hands down the best Mexi-Cali restaurant in the area.

Eat your Mexican food where the locals go. The fresh menu changes daily. But be warned. If the sweet corn chowder is on the menu, get there early. The tortilla soup is pretty good too, but the corn chowder is numero uno. For vegetarians and seafood lovers, the menu has plenty of options, like salmon tacos.

Every time I’m in town, I eat at Peppers. The food is delicious and it’s a great local spot. The Garlic Prawns are delicious–this is my favorite dish, but everyone in my family loves this place and has a different favorite!

Peppers is extremely tasty and one of the best California style Mexican restaurants in the central coast. I highly recommend for an appetizer, the grilled pepper or the gazpacho, for the main course the enchiladas are outstanding (with the red or green sauce), and Peppers have to have one of the best 😉 margaritas in the Monterey Bay area.

We were a party of six, and it was a good thing that we made reservations for this busy Saturday night. The food was delicious and our server was excellent. I had the chili relleno and chili verde combination. Both items were prepared perfectly. My friends had various combinations, all were excellent.

Peppers is a casual, festive place with good food at reasonable prices. The inviting dining room has wooden floors and tables, lots of pepper art, and a perpetual crowd of regulars who come to suck up beers and savor spicy but well-balanced seafood tacos and fajitas or house-made tamales and chilis rellenos. Other fire starters include the snapper Yucatán, cooked with chiles, citrus, cilantro, and tomatoes; and grilled prawns with lime-cilantro dressing. More than a dozen daily specials include Mexican seafood paella and grilled swordfish. The chips and salsas are addictive, and the staff is exceptionally friendly.

A Monterey Bay Mexican Favorite: Peppers Mexicali Cafe in
Pacific Grove

Peppers MexiCali Cafe is one of Pacific Grove’s most unpretentious piquant eateries.

Serving fabulous fare since 1986, a recent visit demonstrated that the wait staff is friendly and knowledgeable. In fact, the server was nearly intuitive in anticipating our dining needs and desires, such as the timing of the fresh cup of coffee – and our Guacamole, ordered as an appetizer for our late lunch: the side order portion was, indeed, plenty for two people….

Although the Monterey Bay area is so replete with taquerias that Santa Cruz has even been dubbed Santaqueria Cruz – truly fresh creative Mexican cuisine is always a treat to find.

Peppers’ website defines their food as “Latin American,” yet it was the hint of Caribbean influence in the dishes that seemed to transport us to another world.

In particular, the Mahi Mahi Yucatan was outstanding. The fresh fish had a melt-in-your-mouth texture, likely from the citrus marinade that includes annatto, peppers, cilantro, chilies and tomatoes. For this type of delectable dish, the tortillas are imperative to savor the exquisite sauce.
